How to Reprogram an 1866 Sargent & Green Leaf Combination Lock

Sargent and Greenleaf made the first changeable combination lock in 1866. James Sargent had started his company nine years before in New York in 1857. Just a year before this groundbreaking innovation he had joined his business with Colonel Halbert Greenleaf. Ever since, Sargent and Greenleaf company had been making and innovating locking mechanisms for padlocks, safes and more. Stanley comp;any acquired Sargent and Greenleaf in 2005, which has allowed them to expand. The 6600 series three-number combination lock is a descendant of that revolutionary product that James Sargent made in 1866. A numbered dial tspins around and there are two prominent marks above the numbered dial. The one at the top center is the opening index. The other is about 45 degrees to the left and this is the changing index.
