How to Hang the Valance on Levelor-Style Vertical Blinds

Levelor-style vertical blinds are often used on large windows and sliding glass doors. The company designs several types, and they are available in vinyl, fabric and fabric laminate styles. With nearly 177 colors to choose from, the blinds will compliment any room. Adding a valance to the Levelor blinds allows you to further style them.

Instructions

  1. DesignLine Outside Mount Valance

    • 1

Install twist and lock style valance clips. Put one clip at each end of the headrail on the Levelor-style vertical blinds. Position the clips next to each place where the mounting brackets attach. They should be no more than 30 inches apart. Hold the clips at a 45-degree angle to the headrail, and then lower them into the top part of the headrail. The locking tabs need to be secure in the channel.

    • 2

Install slide-in clips, if that's the type on your Levelor blinds. Slide them onto the headrail from each end. Space them out evenly across the headrail, with one positioned at each end. Keep the clips clear of the headrail mounting brackets.

    • 3

Hold the valance up to the window. Center the front panel so that it lines up with the headrail. The panel has mounting tabs that line up with the valance clips. Slide them into place until they make a clicking noise.

    • 4

Mount the sides of the valance for a finished look. Attach a return (the piece that extends from the corner of the valance to the wall) to each of the two corner clips. Slide the corner clips onto the ends of the front valance, wrapping the top notch over the mounting tab and sliding the bottom notch into the channel. The pieces should fit together, finishing the look of the valance.

    Decorative Valance

    • 5

Remove the tape from the back of the cloth wrap. The cloth should be centered on the front panel of the valance, with enough hanging off each end to go around the side of the blinds, extending to the wall.

    • 6

Hold the cloth out of your way. Attach the corner clips to each end of the front valance panel. Snap the tabs into the channels.

    • 7

Slide the returns (the pieces of the valance that extend from the front panel to the wall) onto the corner clips. The corner clip should fit securely into the channels on the back of the valance.

    • 8

Peel the back of the double-sided tape off. The tape is on the back of the fabric. Pull the fabric around the corner pieces and return, until it reaches the wall on each side of the window. Smooth with your fingers so there are no wrinkles. Hide the fabric ends by tucking them into the grooves on the side panels.

    • 9

Attach the corner caps to hide and secure the fabric. Make sure the cloth is trapped behind the caps.
