Run all bathroom and kitchen fans for 20 to 30 minutes after cooking or taking showers to vent excess moisture out of the home.
Open all curtains during the daylight hours to allow the sunlight to heat up the inside of the window glass. This stops the condensation by decreasing the difference in the indoor and outdoor temperatures.
Turn the thermostat on the heater up one degree at a time until the excess water on the windows stop. You must readjust the temperature if the sweating occurs again since outdoor temperature drops will cause the water to redevelop. This technique also works to eliminate summer window sweating problems as well.
Place a dehumidifier in the room where the aluminum windows sweat and plug it in. Set the dial to maintain a humidity level of 40 percent if the outdoor temperature is around freezing. If you live in a very cold climate where temperatures reach below freezing, lower the humidity level a little at a time to a low of 15 percent, if needed, to stop the sweating.
