How to Install a Single Cylinder Deadbolt

Installing a deadbolt on your exterior door can add an extra level of security to your home. Unlike a standard locking doorknob, a deadbolt extends into the door jamb and cannot be forced back into the lock when it is fully extended. A single-cylinder deadbolt has a keyed lock cylinder on the exterior of the door and a thumb knob on the interior of the door.
