How to Line Up the Bottom of Bifold Doors

Because you normally install bifold doors with a track along the top of the door opening, and not on the bottom, aligning the tops is a no-brainer. Lining up the bottom of the doors is more of a challenge. The doors are usually not lined up because the hinge pin is not correctly inserted into the bottom door bracket. Correct this with a simple adjustment.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the bifold doors completely closed. Look at the bottom of the doors to see if either of the panels is noticeably out of alignment with the other door. Also look at the outside edge of the panel to check if it slightly angles instead of going straight down.

    • 2

Kneel down on the floor and look underneath either of the door panels to see if the hinge pin on the bottom of the door is correctly inserted into the hinge bracket on the floor.

    • 3

Fold the panel that's out of alignment so that it opens. Have an assistant lift up on the panel, compressing the roller on top of the door.

    • 4

Move the bottom of the panel to fit the bottom hinge pin into the bottom bracket. Instruct your assistant to lower the panel and release it.

    • 5

Close the panel and check to make sure the panel bottoms now line up in a straight line. Adjust the other panel in the same way, if both bottom hinge pins were out of position.
