Position the end of a tape measure on the side edge at the bottom of the door, and extend the tape measure across the door to the other side. Measure the door's width.
Mark the door's width on the door sweep, using a fine-point felt tip pen. Cut the sweep to this width, using shears.
Position the door sweep against the door bottom, so that the bottom of the sweep is against the threshold. Mark the screw slots that are in the sweep on the door, using the fine-point felt tip pen.
Remove the sweep. Install a pilot bit into a power drill and drill pilot holes into each of the marks on the door you made with the felt-tip pen.
Position the door sweep back against the bottom of the door in the same spot, with the sweep's screw slots directly over the drilled holes in the door. Install a screw through each slot, into the door holes, using the power drill.
Swing the door open and shut, making sure it swings freely. Back out the screws, using the power drill, if necessary, adjust the sweep so it fits snugly against the threshold and tighten the screws back in with the drill.
