A deadbolt lock tumbler is the part of the lock moved by the key, located inside the lock trim. It can be replaced without replacing the rest of the lock and trim in the event that you need the lock rekeyed. Replacement is a simple process involving removing a few screws and changing out the interior workings. The bolt itself is separate and slides in through the door edge rather than the door panel. The bolt, strike plate and one side of the lock don't even need to be removed.
