How to Install a Bottom Pivot on a Folding Door

Folding doors, most often called bi-fold doors, have a pre-drilled hole in the bottom where the pivot sits. This hole is located on the end nearest the jamb. Once the top track is attached to the door frame, installing the bottom pivot into the door comes next. After that, the pivot is installed in a bracket on the floor to finish off the installation.

Instructions

  Set the pivot in the hole on the bottom of the door.

  Hold the pivot straight up. Lightly tap the top of the pivot with a hammer. Tap the pivot until it's firmly seated.

  Position the jamb bracket on the floor flush with the door frame. Place it level with the top track. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver.

  Lift the door. Position the top pivot in the top track pivot bracket. Set the bottom pivot in the jamb bracket. Release the door.
