How to Remove a Mobile Home Door Knob With No Screws

Removing a mobile home door knob that seemingly has no screws can be a bit tricky. In fact, the knob and latch assembly is assembled and installed in the door with long-machined screws that are concealed by a snap-on metal flange. If the door knob was installed properly, the removable flange should be located on the interior surface of the door. Disassembling the knob and latch takes only minutes once you know the trick. No special tools or advanced carpentry skills are needed for this simple job.

Things You'll Need

  • Butter knife
  • Long Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver (optional)

Stand next to the interior side of the door, and open the door. Locate the flange, a curved metal plate at the base of the stem of the door knob. Wedge the blade of a butter knife between the flange and the door. Pry the flange away from the door. Locate two Phillips-head screws, one on each side of the shaft of the door knob.
