Open the door and unscrew the screws holding the deadbolt in place. Carefully take the deadbolt out of the hole in the side of the door. Remove the door handle by loosening the screws with the screwdriver. Pull the inside door handle off, then take off the outside door handle.
Read the instructions on the one-piece unit keyless lock package. Decide if you want the door handle to open to the left or the right. Use the holes left behind from the former lock to position the template included in the packaging for the keyless lock. Make sure the new lock uses the same the holes of the former lock. Mark the outline of the template with a pencil.
Remove the inside cover plate from the back plate. Install the deadbolt into the same spot as the old deadbolt and secure it with screws. Position the back plate on the inside of the door. Mark the spot for the top and bottom screws. Drill 8mm holes for the screws and a 13mm hole for the spindle.
Put the spindle through the hole. Use neoprene seals to hold the locking case and back plate into position on the doors. Screw the top bolt into place to secure both sides of the keyless lock. Fit the bottom screw into position and screw until tight.
Select the right keeper for the door frame. Install a surface keeper by lining it up across from the deadbolt on the door frame and screwing it into place. Place the mortise keeper directly across from the deadbolt on the door frame. Mark the outline of the small recess the deadbolt will lock into. Use a chisel to carve the small recess. Hold the chisel with the beveled edge facing inward. Tap the end of the chisel with the rubber mallet to cut out the outline. Screw the mortise keeper into place on the door frame.
