How to Level a Metal Garage Door to an Uneven Floor

Place the bottom section of the metal garage door in the opening. The section should overlap each side jamb equally. Drive a 16d nail halfway into the jamb beside each end of the door section. Bend the top of the nail over the section to hold the section into place.

Lay a 4-foot level across the top of the bottom section. Insert wood shims under the low side of the door section until it is level, allowing the shims to protrude from the end of the panel.

Insert the rollers into the bottom fixtures and top hinges on each end of the door section. Position the vertical track around the rollers on the end of the door that is on the floor. There should be a space of 1/2 inch between the end of the door and inside of the door track.

Secure the bottom bracket of the vertical track to the door jamb with a 3-inch wood lag and impact wrench.

Place the second vertical track around the rollers of the opposite end of the door. Space the track as you did the first, allowing the bottom of the track to rest on top of the protruding shims. Secure the bottom bracket of the track to the door jamb with a 3-inch wood screw. The remaining sections of the door will now be level as you stack them onto the bottom section.
