How to Replace Pella Skylight Glass

Pella offers a variety of windows and skylights. If a tree branch or other substance cracks or breaks the glass on the Pella skylight, you must replace it. Because Pella products are prefabricated for energy efficiency, the entire window component of the skylight needs to be replaced. Pella has both opening and stationary windows. How you replace the window is determined by the type of window you have.

Instructions

  1. Venting Window Replacement

    • 1

Order the proper Pella glass to replace the window. Contact the manufacturer.

    • 2

Open the window from the attic. Find the release clip on the interior of the frame. Release the vent window on both sides and remove the window from the frame.

    • 3

Align the replacement window in the frame. Snap the window clips into the frame release clips until they lock in place.

    • 4

Test the window by opening and closing it several times.

    Static Window Replacement

    • 5

Order the proper Pella glass to replace the window.

    • 6

Find the screws holding the window in place on the mounting brackets. Loosen all screws in all brackets before removing the window to prevent having one side accidentally fall down onto you while you are working.

    • 7

      Remove the window and discard.

    • 8

Position the new window along the mounting brackets. Secure the window in the top left and bottom right corners. Then tighten all screws in mounting brackets.
