How to Adjust an Anderson Double Door

Anderson double doors are adjustable both horizontally and vertically. Make horizontal adjustments first as this corrects most problems. Vertical adjustments are necessary in few cases. A horizontal adjustment moves the panels side to side to square and center the panels in their opening. It adjusts the gap between the panels and the hinge side of the frames. The gap between the panels and the hinges should look equal; an adjustment is necessary when it does not. The vertical adjustment moves the panels up and down to center it in the opening. It equalizes the gap between the panels and the head or the sill.

Instructions

  1. Horizontal Adjustment

    • 1

Insert the hex wrench into the horizontal adjustment screw hole in the middle of the hinge.

    • 2

Turn the hex wrench counterclockwise to move the door out. Turn it clockwise to move the door in.

    • 3

Step back after each adjustment. Look at the door gap. Make further adjustments as necessary to correct the gap.

    • 4

Repeat the adjustments on each hinge until the gap is equal along all sides.

    Vertical Adjustment

    • 5

Insert the hex wrench into the vertical adjustment screw hole in the bottom of the hinge. Start with the bottom hinge first.

    • 6

Turn the wrench clockwise to move the door up. Turn it counterclockwise to move the door down.

    • 7

Repeat the adjustment on all other hinges until the door is centered vertically. The door should have an equal gap between the panel top and the head, and the bottom panel and the sill.
