How to Fix a Sagging Screened-in Porch Door

Tighten the screws in the hinges of the screened-in door with a screwdriver. Over time, the screws loosen and result in the door sagging.

Open and close the screened-in door to see if the tightening remedied the problem.

Remove the screws from the hinges if tightening the screws did not fix the sagging. Do this where the hinges connect to the door jamb, not the frame of the screened-in door.

Clean up any dirt or debris that was underneath the hinge with a damp cleaning cloth.

Inspect the hinges to ensure they are not bent or so worn that they need replacing. If so, purchase new hinges to fit the door.

Replace the old screws with 3-inch screws. The longer screws are effective in pulling the hinge section tighter to the door jamb, thus lifting the screened-in door in the door frame. This typically solves the sagging problem.
