Pry the trim from the side of the wall and the window with the chisel. The weight pocket is inside the window frame. Pry the stop trim, the trim running up the middle of the window jamb, from window with the chisel. Remove the side trim.
Lift the lower window and pull the ropes out of the holes in the side of the frame. Cut the rope from the pulley assembly with the knife. Loosen the screws from the pulley with the screwdriver and pry the pulley out of the window with the chisel.
Place the new pulley in place of the old one and tighten the screws to hold it to the window frame. Pull the new rope over the pulley, cut to the same length as the original rope and knot each end of the rope with a simple knot.
Push the ends of the rope through the weights in the window frame. The weights should hang just above the bottom of the frame.
Place the knots on the rope ends into the window’s sash. Lower the sash and place the stop trim back around the window. Place nails on the trim and hammer them into the trim and jamb.
