How to Take Out Atrium Windows

In business since 1948, Atrium manufactures both residential and light commercial windows in vinyl and aluminum frames. Certified by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, Atrium windows are available in single- or double-hung vertical frames, horizontal sliding and casement window styles. With the exception of casement windows, all Atrium windows are removable for cleaning, repair or replacement. The upper sash is detachable on the Atrium double-hung window, but not the single-hung. Only the movable sash is detachable on the sliding window.

Instructions

  1. Single- and Double-Hung Atrium Windows

    • 1

Unlock the window. Atrium window locks are between the upper and lower sash on single- and double-hung windows.

    • 2

Raise the lower sash three inches. Pull the sash toward you while pushing the tilt latches toward the center of the window. The tilt latches are on both sides of the window frame. Remove the lower sash from the frame.

    • 3

Lower the upper sash six inches if the window is double-hung. Pull the upper sash toward you while pushing the tilt latches toward the center of the window. Remove the sash from the frame.

    Horizontal Sliding Atrium Windows

    • 4

Unlock the window. Atrium window locks are between the left and right sashes on horizontal sliding windows.

    • 5

Slide the window open. On horizontal sliding windows, only the sliding window is detachable.

    • 6

Slide the anti-lift blocks off the top of the window head. Lift the sash into the head of the window while pulling out the bottom toward you. Remove the sash from the frame.
