Instructions

    • 1

Open the Spackle container. Stir to mix it thoroughly.

    • 2

Take a clean Spackle knife and scoop enough Spackle out of the container to cover the hole on the end of it.

    • 3

Start about 1/2-inch above the hole and smoothly scrape Spackle down and over the hole. Continue to smooth the Spackle in a movement that is very similar to buttering bread or frosting a cake. You want the wall covered at least a 1/2-inch all around the hole area. Use more Spackle if needed to be sure the hole is filled.

    • 4

Spackle the area until the hole is filled and the area looks smooth as possible. The Spackle can be an 1/8-inch away from the wall. It shrinks as it dries. You can come back and apply Spackle again after the Spackle thoroughly dries.

    • 5

Check to be sure the Spackle is dry and pure white.

    • 6

      Put on your face mask.

    • 7

Sand the area with a medium-grit sandpaper until the Spackle is smooth and flush with the wall. Sand with fine sandpaper to completely smooth the area out.

    • 8

Prepare the wall for paint or wallpaper.
