What Kind of Glue is used to Patch Wallpaper?

If your wallpaper needs patching or repair, it can make the whole room look shabby. You can patch or fix wallpaper easily by using the correct glue and tools.
  1. Pre-pasted Wallpaper

    • Most wallpaper today is sold in a pre-pasted version. If your wallpaper pattern is available pre-pasted, buy what you need for patching and cut the pattern carefully to match the area that needs repair.

    Vinyl-to-Vinyl Adhesive

    • Vinyl-to-vinyl adhesive works well to reapply wallpaper and is preferable to seam sealer. Spread a little of the adhesive on to newspaper and let it sit an hour until it becomes thick and sticky.

Pout some water on the backside of the wallpaper to soften it slightly, then apply the vinyl-to-vinyl adhesive to that side and also the wall with a putty knife. Then, take the wallpaper and place it on the wall where you want it, and press the wallpaper down gently.

    Glue Injectors

    • For bubbles in your wallpaper, a glue injector allows you to inject heavy duty adhesive directly into the bubble. Thin the adhesive with water before putting it in the glue injector syringe so it will flow easily. Squirt the adhesive into the wallpaper bubble, then roll it flat with a seam roller.
