How to Remove an Air Bubble From Under Wallpaper

A close inspection of your wallpaper may reveal the presence of small humps on the surface. These tiny bumps normally represent air that has become trapped between the wall and the wallpaper. Trapped air pushes the wallpaper from the wall forming a bubble. To remove the bubble, the air needs to be released and glue pushed into the space to bond the wallpaper to the wall's surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour wallpaper adhesive into a glue-injecting syringe. Position the syringe needle at the middle of the air bubble on the wallpaper.

    • 2

Push the needle into the air bubble. If the needle cannot penetrate the wallpaper, cut a tiny slit with a utility knife into the middle of the air bubble. Stick the needle into the slit. Inject the glue slowly, using only enough to fill the bubble.

    • 3

Remove the syringe. Push the bubble flat with a wallpaper seam roller, gliding the roller up and down.

    • 4

Wipe the affected area with a damp cloth to remove any glue residue. Dry with a clean cloth.
