Type of Insulation for Bathroom Walls

Insulation allows you to regulate the temperature of your home, keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The same principle applies with the bathrooms in your home. You can choose from a variety of insulation types to help maximize energy efficiency.
  1. Fiberglass

    • Many people choose fiberglass insulation for their homes, as well as bathrooms. Fiberglass insulation comes in big rolls called batts. You must place each batt between wall studs and joists.

    Mineral Wool

    • Mineral wool is a versatile material made from steel slag. Like fiberglass, you can roll it into batts or into a fibrous material placed into both ceilings and walls.

    Polystyrene

    • Boards made of polystyrene are a different form of insulation than most. You place them on the exterior of the building, then cover them with material. These mostly complementary forms of insulation are generally used simultaneously with another type of insulation.

    Foam

    • Foam insulation attaches to surfaces and with the goal of filling in crevices in the building structure. This insulation type can vary in size and thickness. In most cases, it adheres to the wall and then hardens to develop into insulation.
