# How to Remove Moss From a Brick Wall
Areas in your yard that are heavily shaded and moist are prone to a moss invasion. If left to grow unchecked, the moss will eventually choke out the grass completely and begin growing on structures. Moss seems to have an affinity for brick walls, where it will eventually break down the mortar holding the bricks together. Therefore, it's imperative to remove moss from brick walls as quickly as possible.
Things You'll Need
- Liquid zinc or magnesium silicofluoride
- Garden sprayer
- Garden gloves
- Garden hose
- Mild dish soap
- Bucket
- Scrub brush
- Rake

Don gloves and mix a 1:40 ratio of zinc or magnesium silicofluoride with water in a garden sprayer. Pump up the sprayer by pressing down on the pump nozzle numerous times.

Spray the entire brick wall and grass bordering next to it. Give the moss a couple of days to start drying up.

Add 1 cup of mild dish soap with 5 gallons of water in a bucket. Use a stiff cleaning brush to scrub the dead and dying moss plants off the bricks.

Rinse the brick wall with the garden hose. Use a rake to scoop the loosened chunks of moss and move them away from the wall.
