How to Repair Swirl Plaster on Wall

Plaster texture comes in many patterns, one of which is swirls, or circles. You create the swirls by texturing the top layer of plaster after you've constructed the wall and it is in alignment with the surrounding walls. If your plaster wall sustained damage in some way, and you have repaired the wall itself, all you have left to do is fix the outer texture. Repairing the outer plaster is not complicated, but does require some practice.

Plaster mix
Bucket
280-grit sandpaper
Damp rag

Instructions

  Mix up a small batch of plaster in a bucket. Follow the directions on the package.

  Dampen the wall around the repair area. You should have sanded down the texture on the wall surrounding the repair area when you patched the hole. If not, sand it down now. Use a 280-grit sandpaper to smooth the wall surface several inches out from the patch. After sanding, dust off the wall and dampen it with a wet rag. Dampening the wall will help the new plaster adhere to the wall.

  Spread the plaster over the patch area and extend it out to cover the area that you sanded smooth.

  Ensure that you have filled the patch up to the surface of the wall. Let the plaster set up for 5 to 10 minutes.

  Swirl the bristle brush through the plaster material. Copy the pattern created on the rest of the wall.
