How to Hide Thumbtack Holes

You may not think about what your walls will look like after you take down the posters and decorations you hung with thumbtacks, but the small holes left behind are very noticeable. However, it's simple to fix this problem before you move out of an apartment or dorm room and don't leave your landlord to fix this situation. Take a quick trip to the hardware store to get a few items and you can do this yourself in no time.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Rub some spackling paste into the hole and spread it over the hole using a putty knife. Allow the paste to dry.

    • 2

Sand any excess putty away very gently. If there are any visible lumps or edges of the putty that are noticeable, use a circular motion to remove them. Don't over-sand; sand only enough to make sure the putty is flat against the wall.

    • 3

Paint over the area with a paint shade that matches the wall and a small brush. It will not take a lot of paint to camouflage the area, so use it sparingly. Allow the area to dry for at least an hour.
