How to Remove Homax Sand Texture Paint From a Wall

Homax Sand Texture Paint Texturizer is a roll-on texture that allows you to texture and paint a wall in a single step. The Homax texture is suspended in the wall paint. This texture effectively covers up minor imperfections, such as areas that are not flat, that would otherwise show up on a wall. Remove the Homax Sand Texture Paint Texturizer when the wall needs repair or if you simply want to install a different texture or none at all. Remember to avoid damaging the wall underneath the paint.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide any furniture out of the way, if it's blocking the wall. Place drop cloths on the floor directly in front of the wall. Put on goggles to protect your eyes, a dust mask to protect your lungs and possibly a cap to protect your hair from the dust.

    • 2

Install an 80-grit or 100-grit sandpaper belt on a belt sander. Switch on the sander's power.

    • 3

Hold the belt sander with both hands and ease it onto the wall. Do not put any pressure on the sander. Instead, guide it and keep it moving across the wall surface to sand the texture paint off. Don't hold the sander in one spot.

    • 4

Sand off the Homax texture paint, making sure you don't sand down into the drywall underneath the paint.
