Slide the hook on the end of a siding removal tool under the ledge running along the bottom of the aluminum siding panel you wish to remove. Use the hook to pull the ledge down and off the nailing strip under it that it overlaps. Start at the end of the panel and repeat the unhooking process down the panel length until you’ve pulled the entire panel off.
Repeat the unhooking process with the panel directly above the one you’ve just freed and wish to remove, to gain access to the nailing strip running along the top of that first panel. Begin at the end of the panel, locating the small notch under the end’s ledge to give you a grip on the bottom of the top panel. Pull the panel ledge down and away from the nailing strip on the lower panel to unhook the ledge. Work down the length of the panel using the unhooked portion to slide the hook under the still connected area of the panel, until you reach the end.
Pull the nails from the nailing strip along the top of the first panel with the claw end of a claw hammer. Lower the panel to the ground to remove it from its position.
Hook the ledge along the bottom of the replacement aluminum siding panel onto the nailing strip below, and then raise the panel above to slide the nailing strip of the replacement panel beneath the bottom of the top panel. Nail the top panel in place with the hammer and siding nails driven through the holes in the nailing strip and into the wall cladding of the structure.
Place the hook of the removal took under the ledge of the panel on top of the replacement panel and pull the top panel over the ridge running along the nailing strip, hooking it into place. Continue down the top panel, pulling it over the replacement’s nailing strip until you reach the panel end to complete the panel replacement.
