Begin working from the corner of the wall, as this will make determining the location of the underlying studs more simple.
Orient a panel of blackboard sheathing vertically and hold it in place at the corner of the wall. Measure 16 inches from the top corner of the panel and make a small mark with your pencil. Measure and mark 16-inch spans all the way across the top of the panel.
Insert a driving bit into the top of the electric drill. Using the marks you made across the top of the panel as a guide, drive wood screws across the top of the panel into the studs.
Make vertical guiding marks down the length of each stud, spacing each one 2 feet apart. Drive wood screws through each mark until the entire panel is firmly mounted.
Position the next panel flush against the other one and perform the above steps to mount it. Continue this process until the entire wall is covered with blackboard sheathing. If cutting of the panels is required, use a circular saw and safety glasses to cut it to the correct size.
