Turn the range hood upside down on the floor so that you can remove the filter and bottom cover, using a screwdriver. Punch out the knockout hole on the back of the range hood that matches the electrical setup of your home, using a hammer and screwdriver, so that you can connect the electrical wires later.
Turn off the power to the kitchen at the breaker panel or fuse box in the utility room or basement. Test the wires with a voltage tester to make sure the power is off. Ask a helper to place the unit on the wall underneath the cabinet hood. Make sure the hood is level, using a leveler. Secure the hood with the screws provided and a drill or screwdriver.
Pull the electrical wires through the knockout hole and connect the wires black to black and white to white, using wire nuts. Connect the ground wire, normally green or cooper, to the ground screw on the hood. Replace parts removed in the beginning such as the filter and bottom cover. Return to the electrical panel or fuse box and turn on the power. Test the new kitchen range hood to see if everything is working properly.
