How do I Clean Dust From Heater Vents?

Dust has a tendency to build up in the most inconvenient places, for example, the heating vents. Accumulated dust can cause problems for those who suffer from asthma or allergies since airflow through the vents causes the deposits to be knocked loose into the air. The best way to prevent these issues is to clean the vents out regularly before accumulation can build up.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay an old towel or some paper down on the floor underneath the vent to catch any dust that falls during the cleaning process.

    • 2

Vacuum the vent using a vacuum cleaner attachment to suck out the dust from the duct.

    • 3

Run a damp rag over the vent to get any stubborn dirt out, which should stick to the rag.

    • 4

Spray compressed air into the vent to dislodge any dust that's a bit deeper inside of it.

    • 5

Wipe the vent down again with a dry rag to eliminate any remaining dust and remove the moisture left by the wet rag.

    • 6

Remove the paper or towel and vacuum any loose dust remaining on the floor.
