Disconnect the bottom tee connector in the fireplace from the existing chimney liner with a screwdriver.
Disconnect the top plate from the liner on top of the chimney by unscrewing the collar. Pry off the top plate with a crowbar and pull the old liner out of the chimney.
Straighten out the liner by unrolling it by hand on the ground. It is usually necessary to have a friend hold down one end of the line, while you straighten out the liner.
Measure the proper length of liner with a tape measure. To get the proper length, measure the length of the chimney stack with a tape measure and add 1 foot of extra length to this measurement. Cut the liner to this length with tin shears. Attach the termination coupling to the end by tightening the collar with a screwdriver.
Roll out the insulation alongside the chimney liner. Put the liner in the middle of the insulation and wrap it around the chimney. There must be an inch of overlap. Secure the insulation every few feet with foil tape, or use spray adhesive to secure it temporarily. Run one strip of foil tape along the whole length of the insulation seam.
Insert the liner, tee section first into the chimney and push it down the length of the chimney. Twist back and forth to get the liner to the bottom. Push it through the t-spout's hose clamp in your fireplace and secure the hose clamp by tightening it with a screwdriver.
Fit the top connector plate over the chimney liner at the top of the chimney. Mark and cut excess liner flush with top of connector using a hacksaw.
Remove top connector plate. Apply a thick 1-inch bead of silicone to the crown of the chimney where the top connector will connect with the crown. Fit the top plate back on and press it into the silicone. Tighten the collar on the top plate with a screwdriver.
