Instructions

Select a rights-free image from the Internet that depicts a vintage scene. For example, scenes of models or stars from before the 1950s are ideal. Save the image to your computer and open it in your computer's photo editing or paint program. A Window's native software like Microsoft Paint is adequate for this task.

Insert a sheet of iron-on transfer paper into your printer's paper feeder. Place it in with the filmy side facing downward. Resize the image you have selected in the "print preview" options of your project. Center it or tile it as necessary, depending on your needs.

Print the image you have selected. Let it sit in the printer for two minutes to air dry. Remove the filmy cover from the image.

Place the sticky-side of the paper, which is the image side, onto the broad face of the square bed pillow. Plug in an iron and let it heat for five minutes. Apply the iron to the backside of the transfer paper, firmly. Rub it back and forth over the entire sheet of paper for up to two minutes. This melts the appliqué from the other side and pulls it into the fibers of the pillow so it can display the image. Let it cool for a few minutes and then peel back the paper backing to reveal the transferred image on the pillow.

Snip the stem from a silk flower of your choice, leaving only the blossom part of the flower. Squeeze a dot of hot glue on the backside of the blossom. Affix the glued-side of the blossom to the surface of the printed pillow, in an area of your choice. This adds a bold splash of color to the vintage-looking design of the pillow's face. Let it dry for 15 minutes.
