How to Connect a B-Vent Together

B-vent is designed for use with propane or natural gas appliances. These include furnaces, water heaters and boilers. It is a double wall pipe with an 1-inch air space between the sections. The inner wall is typically made from aluminum or steel, while the outer was is normally galvanized steel. Each section of b-vent has a male and female end. Connecting two sections of vent together is a simple process anyone can learn.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the male and female ends of the two sections of b-vent. The male side is the smaller diameter end and the female side is larger with a clamping mechanism on the outside.

    • 2

Align the male end with the female end and insert the two. Twist the male end until the locking mechanism engages.

    • 3

Tighten the tightening mechanism on the female b-vent with a wrench until it is tight, but not bending the male section inside it.
