Shut off the power to the HVAC system. Locate the HVAC distribution pipe that feeds the area that needs the additional air flow. Make sure the inline duct fan is the same size as the distribution pipe. Locate one of the joints on the distribution pipe and remove the existing HVAC tape holding these two sections of pipe together.
Separate these two sections of pipe and insert the inline duct fan between these two sections of pipe. Wrap each of the two joints with HVAC tape. Plug the inline fan cord into the thermostat outlet.
Locate the black, white, and green wires attached to the thermostat. Connect the black wire of the thermostat to the black wire inside of the junction box that will feed the inline fan. Then connect the white wire of the thermostat to the existing white wire inside the junction box. Finally, connect the green wire of the thermostat to the bare ground wire in the jnction box. Cover each splice with plastic twist caps to protect the splices.
Turn the HVAC system back on and check for leaks. Adjust the temperature on the inline fan thermostat to determine when it should turn on.
