How to Install Cardboard Attic Baffles in Vaulted Ceilings

Vaulted ceiling are much like cathedral ceilings since they open up the space in your home and have a sweeping, grand appearance. While it might not seem like it, there should be a small attic space in the vaulted ceiling for insulation and ventilation. In most cases, the cardboard ventilation baffles need to be installed before the ceiling is finished since the attic space is too small for people to fit into and install the baffles when it’s done.

Instructions

    • 1

Climb the ladder to the spot in the inside of the vaulted ceiling right above the soffit vents.

    • 2

Place the cardboard vent baffle on the inside of the roof decking over the soffit vents. The baffles ensure that air from the soffit vents will circulate into the attic and not get stopped by the insulation.

    • 3

Staple the baffle to the roof decking with the staple gun. Use three to four staples on both sides of the baffle.
