Determine where the first panel should be installed. If you have more than one panel to install, the first panel should rest on the windowsill.
Measure 2 ¼ inches away from where the edge of the window opening will be. Using a white marking pencil, mark these spots to drill the holes on the shutter panel.
Drill the holes in the shutter panel with a ¼ inch drill bit. Then enlarge the holes using a ½ inch drill bit.
Place the shutter panel over the window, in the same position as when you measured for the holes. Using the white marking pencil, mark on the wall to indicate the center of the holes in the shutter panel.
Drill holes in the wall in all of the marked areas using the hammer setting on your drill. Ensure that you drill deep enough to set the anchors.
Secure the shutter panel mates into the holes, using the driver setting on your drill.
Slide your hurricane shutter panel onto the panel mates. If the fit is too tight, you can enlarge the holes in your panel slightly by drilling through them again.
Fasten the hurricane shutter panel to the wall using wing nuts and washers.
Repeat the process for any additional panels, making sure to overlap the first valley of the second panel with the last valley of the first panel.
