Gather the necessary information to apply for FEMA aid. You will need your social security number, insurance information, total yearly household income, pre-disaster address, current address, bank account number, bank routing number and a telephone number that you can be reached at.
Fill out the application for aid from FEMA. You can apply in three ways, either online at FEMA's website (DisasterAssistance.gov), in person at a Disaster Recovery Center or by telephone at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
Wait to get your application back from FEMA after you initially submit the information. When FEMA has registered your application, they will send you back your information with a disaster or reference number for your claim. This information could also be on the Declaration and Release Form that FEMA may require. This form determines that the members of your household are either citizens, qualified aliens or non-citizen nationals of the United States.
Provide your registration number to an inspector, who will be sent by FEMA to assess the damage to your property and determine the amount of aid you are eligible for.
