Garden Tractor & Snow Removal

At the outset, snowfall over the roof and driveway may sound like music to the ears and appear magnificent to the view. It is an opportunity to play with the children or grandchildren and have a wonderful time. But when the snow has accumulated, you will start to see it as a troublesome, unwanted restriction to your movements. You can use a garden tractor to remove much of the snow, after which you need only do some minor shoveling to complete the job.
  1. The Garden Tractor

    • The garden tractor is a versatile machine that is used for many purposes, one of them being for snow removal. It is important, though, to install the snow blade to the tractor to be able to remove snow.

    The Snow Blade

    • The snow blade is a detachable blade fitted to the front of the tractor to push snow aside and clear the way through. When installed, the blade can be lowered and lifted from the driver’s seat. The blade is also control-managed to turn left, right or center. Double check to make sure you install it according to the instruction manual.

    Clearing the Snow

    • Start from the entrance to your driveway. Determine where to push the snow, whether to left or right. Consider the driveway grade or slope. As much as possible, always push the snow toward the down slope. Angle the blade toward that side.

You may not be able to entirely clear the area in one pass. You'll need to maneuver back and forth, adjusting the snow blade position frequently, to clear the area sufficiently.

If you expect to have to repeat the process later in the season, you do not need to detach the snow blade. Check bolts and attachments to be sure none was loosened in the process. Clean the machine of excess snow and store it in its parking area.

    Snow Cab

    • Many garden tractors may be fitted with a removable snow cab to provide some protection for the operator.
