Mounting Instructions for a Western Snow Plow

Western is one of the leading manufacturers of snow plows and has been making them for many years. A snow plow is made of components that include the blade, the quadrant and the A-frame. The quadrant uses a pivot bolt to attach to the A-frame, and this allows for angling of the blade. The blade uses hydraulic power to lift and angle. Once you've installed the lift-mount assembly, Western snow plows are relatively simple to mount. The blade, quadrant and A-frame can all be mounted as one piece.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the vehicle close behind the Western snow plow blade, quadrant and A-frame assembly so the ears line up with the couplings on the lift-mount assembly.

    • 2

Grasp the chain and hook it to the lift channel.

    • 3

Enter the cab and use the control to raise the lift channel so it lines up. Monitor the outside of the cab and keep people away.

    • 4

Exit the cab and insert the hitch pins and hairpin cotters, attach any hydraulic hoses from the truck to the rams on the A-frame.

    • 5

Go back into the cab and move the control to the lower float position.

    • 6

From the outside again, push the lift channel all the way down. Tighten the chain by pulling it.
