How to Mount a Snow Blade on Industrial Tractor

Using a snow blade on an industrial tractor has the advantage over installing one on a pick-up truck, or on a riding lawn mower, because you gain traction. With traction comes the efficiency of being able to move larger loads more quickly. Riding lawn mowers require tire chains and suitcase-like weights for traction. Installing a snow blade on a truck limits the use of the truck for a time. An industrial tractor snow blade can also be used for light dirt work, too.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the lift frame to the proper height. The instructions will be different for each blade assembly and tractor, so check your kit's specific instructions. Meyer's Heavy Adjustable Tractor Mounting (HAT) requires 10-1/2 inches from the ground to the center line of the clevises.

    • 2

Position the support brackets on the tractor. Clamp them in position. Make sure you have 2-inch clearance between parts and tractor wheels--cycle them left and right.

    • 3

Drill all the holes and bolt the mount parts together. Don't weld the snow blade mounting to the tractor as this can cause stresses and failures. Cut off any excess lengths on mounting parts.

    • 4

Assemble any parts like the blade and A-frame using the instructions that come in the kit.

    • 5

Attach the lift arm to the lift frame. Connect the A-frame to the lift frame using hinge pins and spring clips.

    • 6

Hook the A-frame chain to the lift arm allowing slack so the blade can follow the ground contour.
