MTD 5 HP Snowblower Instructions

MTD snowblowers use a corkscrew style blade to break up heavy snow and throw it away from the area you are clearing. The rotating blades of the snowblower can cause serious injury to anyone encountering them. Using a snowblower correctly ensures the safety of you and others in the area around the snowblower.

Instructions

      Remove the gas cap from the gas tank of the MTD 5 HP snowblower. Pour gas in the gas tank if required. Replace the gas cap. Pull the oil dip stick from the engine. Wipe the oil from the dipstick. Place the dipstick back into the engine and pull it again and check to see there is adequate oil in the engine. Add oil if necessary.

      Set the engine chock to "Full." Plug the female end of an extension cord into the pigtail plug of the snowblower. Plug the male end of the extension cord into a three prong outlet of your home.

      Push the primer two to three times. Press the "Start" button until the engine turns over. Set the chock to "Run" when the engine idles smoothly. Push the throttle to the fast position.

      Move the speed selection lever to a forward gear. Squeeze the auger control located on the left handle of the snowblower to start the auger.

      Guide the snowblower along a path. Move the speed selection lever a reverse direction to back up the snowblower.

      Move the throttle control to the "Stop" position. Turn off the key to stop the snowblower.
