Safe Snow Removal From Nicolock Pavers

Damage occurs when snow and ice infiltrate clay, brick and concrete pavers. They can stain, scratch and rip out when trying to remove the wintry mix. Pavers, and the sand and mortar surrounding each paver, absorb daytime snow melt. Some pavers are more porous than others and absorb more moisture. Clay absorbs and damages easier than concrete. The absorbed moisture refreezes and expands. This entire process is called spalling. Concrete Nicolock pavers are installed over a compacted aggregate base. This resists movement and makes snow removal safe, keeping the Nicolock pavers free from damage.
