How to Replace a Snow Wear Blade

The snow wear blade on a snowblower helps scrape up snow and ice so it can be moved into the spinning augers and then thrown out of the snowblower through the dispatch chute. This mechanism, also known as a shave plate, can become worn down over time. If the blade becomes dull and pitted after years of use, it can be removed and replaced with a new one, available at most hardware stores and retailers that sell the model of snowblower that you own. Wear heavy gloves during this procedure and figure on the job taking about 30 minutes to complete.
