How to Mount a Plow on an ATV

An ATV has many different uses. Beyond using it as a back-country tool to explore, the ATV is a handy home and garden tool. Mounting a plow to the front of the ATV makes it a handy home snow removal device. A plow mounts to the ATV via a bracket plate that is attached to the ATV frame. Once the bracket is on, you mount the plow, turning the ATV into a snow-moving machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the ATV wheels lifts in the work shop and pull the front of the ATV up onto the lifts. Set the parking brake on the ATV and turn off the machine.

    • 2

Attach the bracket plate to the underside frame of the ATV at the mounting screw holes on the frame. Use the socket and ratchet to set the screws. Keep the plow mounts facing out to the front of the ATV.

    • 3

Place the mounting kit U-bolts onto the ends of the bracket plate. Tighten the U-bolts to reinforce the bracket and prep the mounts for the plow.

    • 4

Lift the plow up to the ATV. Have an assistant help with the lift, as the plow is heavy and unruly. Place the plow onto the bracket mounts and push the retaining bolts in to hold the plow on the bracket. Screw the nuts onto the retaining bolts.

Run the plow motor wires to the ATV battery and connect red to red and black to black. Mount the ATV plow control panel and motor to the side of the handlebars using the C-clamp mounts.
