Replace the drive belt if the CCR will not go into drive. Pop the belt cover off the left-hand side of the machine. Lift the idler pulley, the pulley holding the belt in place, up. This will loosen the belt. Gently slide the belt out of position. Place the new belt in its place and wrap it around the far pulleys. Push the idler pulley down onto the belt to secure it. Snap the belt cover back over the plate.
Drain fuel from the fuel tank if it is more than 1 year old. Old fuel breaks down and will not turn the engine over. Unscrew the gas cap. Place the hose end of the pump-type siphon into the tank. Pump as much of the old fuel out of the tank and into a gas-safe container. Pour new regular unleaded gas into the tank, and screw the cap back onto the tank.
Replace the spark plug if the engine is flooded or if the engine will not turn on. The spark plug is located on the top of the engine under a black cap. Once you locate the spark plug, unplug the black cap. Use an adjustable wrench to remove the spark plug. If it is cracked or full of dirt, replace it with a new one. Only three kinds of spark plugs work in the CCR: the NGK BMR-6A, Champion RCJ-8 and Autolite AR7N. Screw the new spark plug into place, and place the black cap back over it.
