How do I Hook Up a Snow Blower Attachment to a John Deere LA 150 Automatic?

John Deere's LA150 lawn tractor can be fitted with an optional 44-inch snow blower attachment. Before installing the attachment, the mower and mower drive belt must have been removed from the lawn tractor and the ballast needs to be added to the lawn tractor to counterbalance the weight of the snow blower. Hooking up the snow blower involves connecting cables and mounting and can be accomplished by following some steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the frame under the machine. Keep the rear hanger brackets on the frame under the rear mounting plates on the machine. Then connect the mower engagement cable into the slot in the cable bracket at the left side of the system plate. Secure the cable with the spring locking pin and hook the end of the cable spring into the slotted hole in the upper tensioning arm.

    • 2

Take out the spring locking pin and the drilled pin that holds the latch to the hanger brackets and rotate the latch backward to display the slot in the hanger bracket. Then lift the frame, and align the hanger bracket slot with the long bushing at the rear mounting plate on each side of the machine.

    • 3

Slide the frame backward to fully engage the hanger brackets and rotate the latch to the closed position. Secure with the hardware you removed in the previous step.

    • 4

Install the primary drive belt on the machine drive sheave and assemble the adjustable lift link to the adjustable lift rod and thread the nuts. Then install the mounting leg of each adjustable lift link into the front mounting plate and pivot it downward. Install the lift rod to lift arm by installing the loop and securing or securing with the washer and cotter pin, depending on model.

Tilt the hood forward and position and attach the control bracket on the console with the remaining hardware.
