How to Plow With a Chevrolet 1500 4x4

Chevrolet 1500 4x4 pickup trucks are ideal for light plowing. Four-wheel drive allows for good traction. The high-ground clearance that the truck provides is also desirable when plowing. The lift-mount assembly can remain on the truck when not plowing without appearing out of place. Plowing with a Chevrolet 1500 4x4 truck involves mounting the plow on the truck and performing the snow clearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the plow to the truck. Drive the 1500 up to the plow assembly so that the ears on the frame are in line with the lugs on the vehicle mount. Then hook the chain on the lift channel and raise the lift channel so the ears and lugs line up. Fasten the hardware to hold the ears to the lugs and then attach the hoses.

    • 2

Move the control so that the blade drops to the lowest position, then tighten the chains. Then raise the blade to the floating position. Change the plow light switch from the default Chevrolet lights to the plow lights, and move the transfer case lever, or knob, so that the truck is in 4x4.

    • 3

Move forwards into the driveway or area that you want to clear with the snowplow angled away from buildings. The snow should be pushed away from buildings. Plow to within a vehicle length of buildings at the end of the driveway, pushing snow off the driveway.

Raise the blade and drive right up to the building. Drop the plow and back-scoop the snow. Back the 1500 up to the building and push the back-scooped snow out onto the street.
