How to Identify Bolens Snowblower Carburetors

You can avoid costly service repair bills by knowing how to locate and repair the carburetor on a Bolens snowblower. The carburetor regulates air and fuel in the engine. If it becomes dirty or filled with bad fuel, then drain, clean or replace the component. On most Bolens snowblowers, the carburetor is located on the left side of engine, viewed from where the operator stands when using the machine. On some models, the carburetor is shielded from the elements by a metal cover.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the snowblower on a level surface, such as a driveway, or garage floor. Locate the engine of your snowblower. On Bolens models, the engine is typically between the snow intake auger and the handle you use to push and guide the machine.

    • 2

Stand behind the handle. The carburetor is generally located above the left wheel. View the engine from the top and then identify the choke and throttle control knobs. The carburetor is enclosed within a metal cover, which is located to the left of the muffler and the spark plug.

    • 3

Remove the metal cover, using either a screwdriver or Allen wrench, depending on the model of your snowblower.

Set the cover aside and identify the carburetor. It is attached with bolts to the side of the engine and has a gas line and air cleaner attached to it.
