How to Load a Snowblower on a Truck Using Ramps

The invention of the snow blower saved countless backs from seemingly endless months of pain. For those fortunate enough to own one, the winter no longer means hours of shoveling heavy snow from your sidewalk and driveway. The only way a shovel beats out a snow blower is the convenience of transporting one -- just toss the shovel in the trunk or truck bed and go on about your business. With a snow blower, you must first get the machine into the bed of a truck, which might be more back-breaking than the shoveling job itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your truck on a flat, level surface, or preferably against a grade, where the ground slopes upward, away from the rear of the truck to the area where the snow blower is located. For instance, if you have a driveway that slopes down from your house to a flat street, park the truck on the street with the back end facing the driveway.

    • 2

Lower the truck's tailgate. Place the top end of the ramps on the truck's tailgate, with the other end of the ramps on the ground. Make sure the ramps are spaced apart the exact width of the snow blower's tread path.

    • 3

Start the snow blower. Disable the snow blowing portion of the blower, if your snow blower offers that ability.

    • 4

Align the snow blower with the ramps, so that the front of the snow blower is facing the ramps. Title the snow blower backward, so that the front of the machine can clear the ramps.

    • 5

Engage the snow blower's forward drive and guide it up the ramps and into the truck. Shut the snow blower off once you're in the truck bed.

    • 6

Pull the ramps up into the truck, so that you can remove the machine from the truck when you arrive at your destination.
