How to Use Ice Melt

Ice melt is primarily used for deicing during the winter season. It is also known as road salt, deicer salt and anti-icing salt. Ice melt has found extensive use due to utility in the winter season and can be applied on the road after or before the ice accumulates on the surface; ice melt can be used as deicer or anti-icing agent. The salt can be applied on ice in solid form or as an aqueous solution in water.

      Procure the ice melt in quantity, according to the requirement.

      Put on the necessary protective gear before starting the procedure.

      Disperse the ice melt on the ice. Try to form a uniform layer of the melt over the ice. The amount of ice melt to use depends upon the thickness of the ice.

      Disperse the ice melt over the ice blocking the tires of a car or any other vehicle. The ice melt will start its action in a span of 10 to 15 minutes.

      Do not excessively use the ice melt on concrete or on vegetation. Excess amounts can damage concrete or plants.
