How Do I Change a Spark Plug Wire on a Honda HS35 Snowblower?

If the spark plug in your Honda HS35 Snow Thrower is worn or dirty, it will not spark properly, causing your snowblower to run rough if it runs at all. Honda recommends that you check and clean the spark plug at the beginning of each snow season, before you need to remove snow. If you find the spark plug to be fouled or the plug insulator damaged, you will need to replace the plug. This is not a difficult task.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lift the spark plug cover to expose the spark plug. This is located on the right side of the snowblower when you are standing in front of the unit. Once you have lifted the cover you will be able to remove the spark plug cap.

    • 2

Place the spark plug wrench over the spark plug and turn counterclockwise to loosen the spark plug. Once you have loosened the spark plug you can remove the wrench and continue turning until you can remove the spark plug from the snowblower.

    • 3

Insert the gap gauge between the center and side electrodes on the spark plug. For the HS35 snowblower, the gap needs to be 0.9mm to 1.0mm. If the gap is not within that range, you can carefully bend the side electrode to adjust the size of the gap. Test the gap with the gauge again until you get it just right.

    • 4

Insert the new spark plug into the engine and carefully begin threading the spark plug by turning it clockwise into the socket. Make sure you are careful when you are doing this so you do not damage the spark plug.

    • 5

Finish tightening the spark plug by turning the spark plug wrench clockwise to tighten. If you do not fully tighten the spark plug, the engine may not fire properly and can overheat.
