Shovel any snow on the surface of the driveway. Use the shovel to scrape away loose ice from the concrete. Get underneath the ice and use the shovel for leverage to pry the ice loose from the driveway. Shovel the loose pieces of ice off the driveway.
Strike the ice with an ice chipper. Thrust the blade of the ice chipper into the ice at an angle. Continue chipping the ice until it is loose. Shovel the loose chunks of ice off the driveway. Repeat this process until the driveway is completely clear of ice.
Place rock salt in a can. Sprinkle the rock salt on the ice. Spread handfuls of salt over the entire driveway. Allow the salt time to dissolve the ice. Use the ice chipper and the shovel to loosen the ice from the concrete driveway. Clear the remaining ice from the driveway with the shovel. Add more salt to the driveway and repeat the process as often as necessary.
